Allahabad High Court asked: UP government should tell whether Press Recognition Committee was constituted or not:

hear the news

The Allahabad High Court has asked the state government whether the UP Press Recognition Committee has been constituted under the mandate of July 4, 2008. The court has sought information by September 30. This order has been given by the division bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice Vikas Wednesday on the petition of Acharya Shrikant TS, President of All India Press Reporter Welfare Association and others.

An advertisement was put out for the formation of a Press Recognition Committee in the matter. The All India Press Reporter Welfare Association has also applied along with all the organizations of the state, but seeing no further progress, the association filed a petition in February 2022. In which the court asked the government to answer for the formation of the recognition committee.

It was told on behalf of the Director Information and Public Relations Department that the model code of conduct is in force due to the assembly elections in the state. The process of setting up the Press Recognition Committee will be taken up only after the new government is formed. After this information, the court had disposed of the petition saying that if the recognition committee is not constituted after the formation of the government, then the petitioner can file the petition again.

Despite this, the UP Recognition Committee could not be formed. Again, a petition has been filed on behalf of senior journalist Acharya Shrikant Shastri, President of All India Press Reporter Welfare Association (APRAVA).
