After three decades, the 'veil of fear' will be removed from the valley, today Kashmir's first multiplex will be inaugurated

Multiplex in Kashmir: In the last few years, a new picture of Kashmir is coming in front of the world. In this episode, after 3 decades, once again something like this is going to happen in the valley, which people were eagerly waiting for. Today the first multiplex will be started here. The multiplex will be opened to the general public from today with a special screening of Aamir Khan starrer ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. Regular shows will begin here from September 30 with the screening of “Vikram Vedha” starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan.

Cinema halls also started in Pulwama and Shopian

This first multiplex in Kashmir will have three movie theaters with a total capacity of 520 seats. There will also be a ‘Food Court’ in the premises for the purpose of promoting local cuisine. The scheduled inauguration of the multiplex run by INOX will come at a time when Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a multipurpose cinema hall each in Pulwama and Shopian districts on Sunday. Cinema halls in the Valley have reopened after three decades. In 1989-90, theater owners closed cinema halls in the Valley due to threats and attacks by terrorists.

Lt Governor called this occasion historic

Terming the occasion as historic, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha told reporters in Pulwama, “We will soon build such multipurpose cinema halls in every district of Jammu and Kashmir. Today I dedicate such cinema halls to the youth of Pulwama and Shopian. He said that cinema halls would also be inaugurated soon in Anantnag, Srinagar, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar and Reasi. Asked if the government wanted to give any message from this, Sinha said, “There is no message.

Even in the middle, there was an attempt but no success

In the early 1990s, all cinema halls in the valley were closed and in 1996 an attempt was made to reopen them. The state government could not get success in this then. Now the state administration is emphasizing on the work related to the film industry, including shooting and post production, apart from multiplexes in the valley. So far 500 filmmakers have applied for shooting in Kashmir.
